“I know,” he conceded, breaking in. “That’s why you’re returning to Cabo with me after your meeting with the SEC on Friday.”

“Baby, I have a business to run, and employees who are depending on me.”

“I know, but I’m confident you can head up our guest services department and run Signature Party Planners. And whenever you need to return to Richmond, we’ll just hop on my jet,” he announced, sporting a giant grin. “Captain Hernandez is an excellent pilot, and his flights are always turbulence-free!”

Claudia smirked. “You’ve thought of everything, haven’t you?”

“Not everything, so let’s go into your bedroom and discuss it further…”

“I’m scared to see what it looks like,” she confessed, glancing down the hall.

“Then, we’ll just have to stay right here.”

He rubbed the tip of his nose against her neck, and she giggled.

“Santiago, we can’t spend the night in this house. It’s filthy, there’s no food in the fridge and it reeks of smoke!”

“Paradise to me is wherever you are,” he whispered, putting his hand under her chin and turning her face toward him, “and I’m happy as long as we’re together. You’re the best part of me, and all I care about is loving you for as long as we both shall live.”

Claudia said a short prayer of thanks. She’d been angry at God ever since her miscarriage, but as she stared into the eyes of the man she loved, she realized that Santiago had been right all along. They were destined to meet. Fate had brought them together to heal and grow, to uncover a deep, all-encompassing love.

  “I love you, Santiago.”

“Not more than I love you. You’re the single most important person in my life, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.” Santiago put a hand inside his pocket and took out his cell phone. “Which hotel do you want to stay at? I don’t care either way as long as—”

“Booking a suite can wait. We have other, more pressing matters to attend to.”

  “Oh, we do, do we?”

  Her eyes sparkled with happiness.

“Well, what exactly do you have in mind?” he asked.

“Enough chitchat,” she quipped, straddling his hips and stroking the hard contours of his chest. “I want you to kiss me and you better make it good. I’ve been waiting all night for this.”

Santiago chuckled. “Anything for you, Mrs. Claudia Medina-to-be.”

Starting at her neck, he showered light-as-a-feather kisses up to her chin, against her earlobe and across her cheeks. His kisses—the perfect blend of hunger, excitement and desire—left Claudia feeling breathless, and when their lips finally touched, she moaned her pleasure so loud Santiago prayed her neighbors wouldn’t call the cops.
